چکیده

Artisanal gold mining causes widespread health problems due to illegal exposure hazardous inorganic compounds, such as arsenic (As) and mercury (Hg). The sources prevalence of pollution are strongly influenced by topography, stream dynamics, soil type, land use. In the present study, potential elements (PHEs), absorption abilities nanoparticles (NPs), ultrafine particles (UFPs) were analysed from clandestine soils in Colombia. proportions PHEs including As, Hg, Cu, Cr, Pb carbonates, sulfides, clays, oxides, hydroxides, sulfates determined field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), high-resolution transmission (HR-TEM), selected area diffraction (SAED)/micro-beam (MBD)/energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). results revealed that concentrations Zn significantly higher clay when compared other samples. Furthermore, Al Fe manifested excellent sorption artisanal soils. presented will be useful for future mitigation measures areas.

Evaluation of Occupational Therapy Practices for Artisanal Gold Mining in Bagega Community, Zamfara State, Nigeria

Background: The enormous numbers of people involved in artisanal gold mining (AGM) together with primitive methods being used in processing gold have resulted in health and environmental challenges. Based on this, both the local and international stakeholders in mining and health sectors engaged in therapeutic practice to mitigate the challenges. Methods: Physical observation and soil samples ...

Malaria in gold-mining areas in Colombia

Gold-mining may play an important role in the maintenance of malaria worldwide. Gold-mining, mostly illegal, has significantly expanded in Colombia during the last decade in areas with limited health care and disease prevention. We report a descriptive study that was carried out to determine the malaria prevalence in gold-mining areas of Colombia, using data from the public health surveillance ...

Artisanal Mining of Gold with Mercury in Ghana

The paper examines the environmental impact of artisanal mining of gold with mercury (Hg) in Ghana. In spite of its positive socioeconomic contributions, it is well known that artisanal mining of gold contributes in no small measure to land degradation, loss of biodiversity and natural resources, deforestation, water pollution, etc. In Ghana, these environmental problems remain poorly studied. ...

Probabilistic meta-analysis of risk from the exposure to Hg in artisanal gold mining communities in Colombia.

Colombia is one of the largest per capita mercury polluters in the world as a consequence of its artisanal gold mining activities. The severity of this problem in terms of potential health effects was evaluated by means of a probabilistic risk assessment carried out in the twelve departments (or provinces) in Colombia with the largest gold production. The two exposure pathways included in the r...

Mineral Processing Analysis in Artisanal Gold Mining, Peru

The usage of inefficient techniques in artisanal gold mining is quite common, either to extract the ore or processing it, and related to environmental contamination. This paper analyse the mineral processing of a case study in Peru (San Cristobal) with the aim to improve the gold recovery process and the environmental impact. The process of amalgamation (gold-mercury) has been found as ineffect...
